Beep, beep, beep...

Noise pollution is sometimes unavoidable but it really gets to me when there is absolutely no point to it. I find those reverse beepers on garbage trucks especially irritating. I'm sure someone at the department of transportation thought they'd make for a great safety feature, but the message they're really blaring out is "we wake up everyone who isn't deaf and run over everyone who is and doesn't get out of the way fast enough". It does not make going in reverse one bit safer and might actually give the driver a false sense of safety and entitlement. And for me, it makes for an unwanted early morning wake-up alarm on Wednesdays.
